One of the biggest challenges with generative AI is maintaining consistent character identity across shots and styles. This is my first pass at building a Qwen image LoRA to generate reliable start frames for video workflows.
I created the dataset using Nano Banana to capture a consistent character look, expressions, and style, then trained the LoRA in AI Toolkit on an RTX 5090.
The goal of a character LoRA is to learn a core identity that holds across different styles, lighting, and scenarios. These start frames act as anchors, locking in that identity before moving into video and helping reduce drift.
In practice, performance and cinematography are driven through previs and animation, with the LoRA supporting those decisions by maintaining consistency from the first frame.
4-9-2026 | LTX 2.3 LoRA Dataset Creation
This is my first attempt at building a video LoRA for character consistency. To create the dataset, I recorded several clips of myself on my phone, performing simple dialogue and movement such as speaking, turning, and shifting poses.
I then processed these clips through Wan 2.2 Animate, using a range of ControlNet inputs to guide motion, structure, and consistency across frames.
The goal is to develop a LoRA that can better retain a character’s identity across longer shots, multiple cuts, and varying visual styles. Rather than relying solely on a single reference frame, this approach uses motion-driven data to help stabilize performance and appearance over time.
In practice, I want to drive the motion using previs and rough keyframe animation from Unreal Engine and Maya, working with low-resolution, approximated characters and sets to block in performance, timing, and staging. Character performance and cinematography would be intentionally crafted to guide the result, with the LoRA acting as a supporting layer rather than the driving force.
